You will be contacted by a NAMI representative to discuss course requirements.

The NAMI Pennsylvania NAMI'S "IN OUR OWN VOICE" LIVING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS is a unique presentation that offers insight into the hope and recovery now
possible for people with severe mental illness--presented by people who have been there.

Course Schedule 2008:

In Our Own Voice is being planned for 2008. Applications must come through the affiliate to the state office. To pre-register for referral to your affiliate please click here. For additional information and to submit names contact Ellen Kitz at 800-223-0500. .

In Our Own Voice shatters stereotypes about people with severe mental illness. Learn from men and women whose lives were interrupted by illness, but who are now role models for hope and recovery.

Our trained consumer presenters speak about the dark days of their illness, how they came to accept their diagnosis, the treatment they receive, how they cope and how they have successed, what their hopes and dreams for the future are.

NAMI PA will help you schedule a presentation. All you need is a VCR and monitor. You provide the audience, which can vary in size. Ideally the presentation runs from 60 to 90 minutes to allow for ample discussion. However, the length of the presentation can be adapted for your audience.

This program is ideal for: Mental Health consumers, Family members, Health care providers, Law enforcement officials, Students, Faith communities and any community or civic organization.

Contact NAMI PA 1-800-223-0500 for a presentation in your area.
